La Casona de Labrada is located in a small village called Labrada, between A Pontenova (Lugo) and Taramundi (Asturias), in the heart of the well-known Biosphere Reserve of Río Eo, Oscos, and Tierra de Burón, recognized by UNESCO in 2007.
Red Natura is a network of protected natural areas at European level, which includes the most characteristic habitats of the continent. The objective of the Natura Network is to promote the ecologically sustainable use of natural resources without degrading the environment. It aims to promote a model of socioeconomic development compatible with the conservation of nature, that is, a model of sustainable development, and to preserve the most significant examples of biodiversity on a European scale.
In our community we have a large number of habitats and a fabulous diversity of flora and fauna. The protected area occupies an area of 4,828 hectares, which correspond to the municipalities of A Pontenova, A Fonsagrada and Ribera de Piquín. It was included in the Natura Network in 2001, primarily to preserve an ecosystem that is in danger, made up of chestnut and oak forests, with numerous streams that favour the maintenance of numerous species such as heather, alder forests, ash trees, in terms of vegetation, musk mice, otters, bats or birds, such as the goshawk or the sparrowhawk, in terms of fauna.
A Site of Community Interest (SCI) and a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA). This region is not only a place of great culinary value and quality, but also a land of ancient traditions such as the artisanal manufacture of knives and pocket knives. The various blacksmiths’ shops, mallets and forges are a recommended visit to learn about how people lived centuries ago in this privileged area.
Tourism in Taramundi is characterised by its focus on ecotourism and outdoor activities, such as hiking and cycling, taking advantage of routes that pass through idyllic landscapes and old muleteer paths. In addition, its ethnographic heritage is highly valued, being famous for the artisanal manufacture of knives and pocket knives, a craft with centuries of history that is kept alive thanks to local workshops.
The Taramundi Ecomuseum, which includes mills, forges and old looms, offers visitors a fascinating look at rural life in the past.

Formed by the municipalities of San Martín de Oscos, Santa Eulalia de Oscos and Villanueva de Oscos, this region stands out for its landscapes of mountains, forests and rivers, which offer an ideal environment for nature lovers.

Historically, Terras de Burón was a place of importance in the Middle Ages, when it functioned as one of the jurisdictions of the ancient Kingdom of Galicia. The name «Burón» refers to the ancient town of Burón, which was an important medieval centre, now disappeared, but which has left a deep mark on the memory and identity of the region.
This corner of Galicia is known for its green landscapes, deep valleys and lush forests, making it an attractive destination for lovers of hiking and rural tourism. Its villages, with traditional architecture, offer an authentic view of Galician rural life, with granaries, pallozas and stone houses.
We are located approximately half an hour from the coast of A Mariña Lucense, where you can admire the famous Playa de las Catedrales, recognised as a Natural Monument and Site of Community Interest, known for its rock formations sculpted by erosion, which create natural arches and caves accessible during low tide.
Another option is A Rapadoira, located in the town of Foz, known for its fine, golden sand, as well as its calm waters, making it a perfect choice for families and those looking to relax by the sea.
For those who prefer a quieter and less crowded environment, Playa de Peizás, in Barreiros, is an excellent option. With fewer tourists, it offers a more relaxed and serene atmosphere, ideal for disconnecting and enjoying the coast in a more intimate setting.
