The sustainable rural complex is located in a small village called Labrada, between A Pontenova (Lugo) and Taramundi (Asturias), in the heart of the well-known Biosphere Reserve Rio Eo, Oscos and Tierra de Burón, recognized by UNESCO in the 2007 The Ria del EO is a place of Community interest (SCI) and a zone of special protection for birds (ZEPA). This region is, in addition to a great value and gastronomic quality, land of ancient traditions such as the artisan manufacture of knives and knives. The various smithies, mallets and forges are a recommended visit to know how they lived centuries ago in this privileged area.
The Natura Network is a network of protected natural areas in Europe, which includes the most characteristic habitats of the continent. The objective of the Natura Network is to promote the ecologically sustainable use of natural resources without degrading the environment. It aims to promote a model of socioeconomic development compatible with nature conservation, that is, a model of sustainable development, and preserve the most significant samples of biodiversity at European level.
In our community we have a large number of habitats and a fabulous diversity of flora and fauna. The protected area covers an area of 4,828 hectares, which correspond to the municipalities of A Pontenova, A Fonsagrada and Ribera de Piquín. It was included in the Natura Network in 2001, mainly to conserve an ecosystem that is in danger, formed by chestnut and oak forests, with numerous streams that favor the maintenance of numerous species such as heather, alder forests, ash trees, in terms of vegetation, musk mice, otters, bats or birds, such as hawks in terms of fauna.
